Football Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Display Wins Contest
Despite registering nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets managed just 82 offensive yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes left.
Record Difficulties for Jets Attack
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets still had possession with a chance to score a potential victory. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion rather than sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields struggled throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach stated following the contest.
